Online safety
We strive for school to be a safe place, but the internet also needs to feel safe for all students. Social platforms offer an environment of anonymity and rapid spread, and digital coexistence is based on us adhering to the basic principles of how we treat each other. Being able to manage conflicts, collaborate in groups and understand different cultures.
In the new teacher's guide from Binogi, the curriculum goals are reflected in several different lesson plans and guidance for teachers.
According to the Swedish Internet Foundation's survey Children and the Internet, published on December 4, 2024, almost all children between the ages of 8 and 19 use the internet. 96% do so daily. Recent figures from 2024 show that young people aged 12–19 are the most vulnerable group when it comes to online hate, insults and negative comments online. In 2024, one in five young people stated that they had been exposed to online hate. Almost one in four teenage boys and one in six teenage girls are affected (Internet and Swedes 2024).
Connecting Binogi's material based on the subject's curriculum with lesson plans and material from Lajka's platform gives the tutorial an additional dimension. Prinsparets Stiftelse mission is to promote online safety for children and young people and increased respect and understanding for everyone with dyslexia. Through its website Lajka, they make free material available in the knowledge area of online safety based on the curriculum and adapted for preschool to upper secondary school, student health teams and school leaders. Lajka's purpose is to give educators and school staff concrete and accessible tools for working with online safety with their students.
Together, Binogi and Prinsparets Stiftelse want to work for a safer digital environment for young people and give teachers better tools for teaching about consent and relationships. Binogi hopes that the new teacher's guide Online Safety will be useful.
