SCIENTIFIC SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT FOR ALL

Imagine a school or preschool where leaders and teachers jointly drive their improvement work based on a research method – especially designed for school development! Development leaders manage the choice of focus, educational design, data collection and analysis of effects. Teachers are quickly and easily involved in testing and documentation. For 10 years, researchers at Chalmers have designed a popular model for just this. The research method is described in the book “Den vetenskapande läraren” and is already used by about 200 school principals around Sweden, as well as by the Swedish National Agency for Education.

The testing takes place in three stages:
1. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT ACTIONS
Responsible development leaders design some common teaching actions. Actions that are expected to lead to a higher quality of teaching.

2. FOLLOW EMPLOYEES’ LEARNING
All teachers try out the actions in their everyday life and then reflect in IT support on the results they have seen. This is done individually in depth via free text and effect indicators. Everyone receives written feedback from responsible development managers.

3. ANALYZE THE OUTCOME
Development managers easily compile an analysis material, which shows which actions have had which effects and why. The material is discussed together in the college.
Our customers apply this research method mainly to reach further in school development, to concretize the collegial learning, and for practical, systematic quality work.
